Respecting anonymity is key to winning trust

Few years ago when I was working in a KPO firm, I was asked to fill a survey form by one of the support teams. The objective of the form was to highlight the good and not-so-good aspects of the team, specifically the challenges faced by operations teams and the improvement areas.  I was hesitant to fill the form as critical and honest feedback is not accepted well by most. However, when I was assured that it will be an anonymous feedback, I went ahead and shared my feedback in the form based on my hands-on experience working with that support team. To my surprise, a few days later one of the representatives of that support team connected with me and asked me to elaborate on the points I have mentioned in the form, possibly with actual examples. I realized that although my name was not mentioned while filling the form, they figured out it was me by checking the office location, my designation, and my tenure with the organization. I was quite shocked at this, as the point of submitt...

Handover of duties: Challenges and Suggestions

Handover of duties in the corporate ecosystem is a less-talked yet very important aspect to ensure smooth functioning of BAU operations . The handover could be from a person who is switching verticals, or shifting to a different branch within the same organization, or scaling up the hierarchy, or going on a long vacation. Scenario 2 is more troublesome (most operations ...

Life is said to be a great leveler. It often comes with boundless delight after a long difficult phase, and similarly, appears to be cruel after a period of happiness. The latter is quite true for Rohit Sharma, the skipper of the Indian cricket team. In a year in which he led India to a world cup victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies, ending a winless drought of 13 years, and later in the year was filled with the joy of fatherhood for the second time, the scales turned completely against him with back-to-back losses in test matches and with runs drying up from his bat. Someone whose captaincy was hailed as transformational, has been facing the backlash for the 3-0 whitewash at home (a first in test cricket on Indian soil) against the Kiwis, followed by 2 defeats out of the 3 he captained in the ongoing BGT test series in Australia. With the bat, the Hitman has hit new lows with averages below 10 in the 2024-25 test cricket season.  These are tough times, and keeping...
